Is There A Successful Baccarat Attack Strategy?

Everyone wants to know how to win playing Baccarat. It’s one of the most popular card games in the world, made famous by the James Bond series of books and movies. And the Baccarat game Bond played can, in fact, be beaten. He’s playing chemin de fer, an older version of Baccarat that has virtually disappeared from modern casinos. The Banker in chemin de fer has an edge of 1.28% if both he and the Player use an optimal strategy – and the casino doesn’t charge a commission.

Today, the Baccarat game you’ll find here on desktop or mobile on OppaBet and around the world is called punto banco, and while it has one of the lowest house edges you’ll find at the casino (as low as 1.06% for the Banker), there’s no Baccarat strategy that will help you beat the game. But that hasn’t stopped people from trying. You’ll even find books that promise to show you how to beat Baccarat and win tons of cash. Almost all of them are wrong.

“Maturity Of Chance” In Baccarat

That includes the 2008 e-book Attack, Retrench and Win by Greg Fletcher. He offers up a Baccarat Attack Strategy, a progressive betting system that asks you to make gradually larger bets when you win (attack bets), and much larger bets when you lose (retrenchment bets). It’s a souped-up version of the betting systems people have tried at the Roulette wheel; you’ll even find live casinos with Baccarat scoreboards showing who won each hand so that players can keep track like they do at Roulette.

Sadly, these players are falling for the Gambler’s Fallacy, the idea that you’re “due” to win after a losing streak or vice versa. Each hand of Baccarat is an independent event with no bearing on the hands that come after. If you try to recoup your losses by betting bigger, you might turn a profit in the short term, but eventually, you’ll hit a losing streak so long that it wipes out your bankroll.

While so-called attack bets won’t get you very far in Baccarat, there might be a way to beat the game live if you’re a dedicated advantage player. Card counting isn’t worth the effort, but if you find a Dealer who flashes cards, you can decide to bet on the Banker or the Player depending on what card you saw. This would be enough to have a positive expectation on every hand of Baccarat.
